Fannie Mae Duncan Fundraiser

Join us on Wednesday, November 14, at 5 p.m. in Pikes Peak Center's Studio Bee to celebrate Fannie Mae Duncan, the woman who accepted and "welcomed everyone" to her Colorado Springs Cotton Club. Meet artist Lori Kiplinger Pandy who is sculpting the bronze statue of Ms. Duncan that will be placed in front of Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts to honor her 28 years of service and commitment to the Colorado Springs community.

A Literary Walk in the Woods: "Trails"

This program features Jack Busher who will discuss two recent best sellers: On Trails: An Exploration by Robert Moor and The Old Ways: A Journey on Foot by Robert MacFarland. Moderated by Lucy Bell. We start in the classroom with a biography of the author, then proceed with a 1 mile loop walk. We stop in the Rock Garden to read selections from the authors book. Class is free, however park pass is required, $7/carload. Reservation required as class in limited, call 719-576-2016. For your comfort consider bring a lightweight folding chair or mat. This is the last program of the season.

A Literary Walk in the Woods: Earl of Dunraven

Tamara M. Teale, Ph.D., will present The Earl of Dunraven (1841-1926) in Yellowstone Park in the late summer of 1874.

This years program will feature CO, NE & WY in the late 1800's plus a special on Trails. Our 3rd program features Dr. Tamara M. Teale, who will discuss The Earl of Dunraven during his time Yellowstone in 1874. Moderated by Lucy Bell.

We will start the event in the classroom with a biography of the author, then proceed over to walk the 1 mile loop. Lastly, we stop in the Rock Garden to read selections from the authors book. 

Park admittance is $7 per carload or free with the park pass. While drop-in's are welcome, we encourage you to make a reservation as there are limited spots available for this event. To reserve your spot, please call 719-576-2016. 

For your comfort, wear comfortable clothes and footwear and consider bringing a lightweight folding chair or mat.

Wildflower Wednesdays

Wildflower Wednesday participants on June 28 will be treated to abundant displays of butterfly weed, which usually blooms on the first day of summer.  It is not a weed at all but the showiest member of the milkweed family.

Wildflower Wednesdays occur every second and fourth Wednesdays from May through August.
